- ブダペスト, ハンガリー The water from the No. II deep artesian well in the City Park ("Városliget") comes to the surface as 75 Celsius degrees hot, its dissolved mineral content is 1774.5 mg / liter. The depth of the drilled well is 1257 meters, even the deepest artesian well of today is just a little bit deeper: that well is situated close to Berlin in Sperenberg town, Germany and its depth is 1273 meters. By the was, the absolute deepest well of Hungary is at Makó town, this is the "Makó-7" natural gas extracting deep well with the depth of 6085 meters.

The specialty of artesian wells are that they get the water from such (on flat lands often very deep) rock strata from where the water naturally comes out due to the high pressure. Simply speaking, the water gushes out automatically, does not need to be pumped.

This kind of well is named after the the former province of Artois in France, where Carthusian monks drilled the first such well in 1126.
